From Isolated to Inspired:
Peer Coaching for Writers and Artists

A Program of Mutual Support for Writers & Artists

with Facilitator Rosie Sultan

In a world that needs brave artists and writers more than ever, this program ensures that no creative has to be brave alone.

Become part of a learning conversation that connects people and reveals possibilities.

Sometimes we don't need more advice or information about our writing; we just need to catch our breath, feel what we're feeling, and hear ourselves think.

Listening is valuable and powerful—it connects us, empowers us, and helps us become our best selves as writers and artists.

In a time when creative professionals face unprecedented challenges—funding cuts, professional isolation, and the persistent voice of imposter syndrome—this innovative course offers a powerful yet overlooked resource: the transformative practice of peer coaching.

This 10-week program transforms the solitary act of creative work into a collaborative journey of growth, connection, and empowerment. Unlike traditional critique-based workshops, participants take turns as both "coach" and "coachee," ensuring that neither partner gets stuck in a role. As coach, participants learn to rely on their capacity to be present and enliven the learning process, rather than on expertise and "having the answer." As coachee, they experience the profound gift of being truly heard while discovering their own insights and solutions through reflective conversation.

Transform solitary work into collaborative growth.

Is this program
for you?

This program welcomes writers and artists at all stages of their journey—from emerging voices finding their footing to established creators seeking renewed inspiration.

It's particularly valuable if you:

  • Feel isolated in your creative practice

  • Struggle with imposter syndrome or creative blocks

  • Want to build meaningful professional relationships

  • Are returning from a residency and seek to maintain that sense of creative connection

  • Want to develop skills that will serve you in both your professional and personal life

  • Seek to create actionable plans for your creative projects and career goals

No previous coaching experience is required—just an openness to both giving and receiving support.

Your Peer
Coaching
Program

Peer coaching programs often cover foundational elements including coaching philosophy, trust-building, and psychological safety. Key skills include asking powerful questions, surfacing insights, and shifting from problem-focused to possibility-focused thinking. Participants learn to balance encouragement with accountability, create sustainable action plans, and address creative resistance.

Programs emphasize maintaining long-term partnerships, adapting techniques for different challenges, and building supportive networks. Regular partner coaching sessions with feedback help participants transform from critics to effective coaches, culminating in commitment to ongoing practice.

What Makes This Program Unique

Evidence-Based and
Proven Effective

Our program at Harvard University showed measurable benefits compared to a control group: less loneliness, less imposter syndrome, greater thriving, greater curiosity about another's point of view even when disagreeing, and greater willingness to share challenges and difficulties.

Reciprocal Learning

Every participant experiences both coaching and being coached. As members of a creative world, you become examples of a better way to interact, helping to change creative culture from the inside out.

Beyond the Classroom

Participants form lasting partnerships that provide ongoing support, extending a residency-like sense of creative connection into daily life.

A Hidden Treasure

In our times, listening is an overlooked and undervalued—yet abundant—resource. This course makes good listening available wherever and whenever you need it.

Culturally Transformative

As enough members of a creative world engage with openness, others follow suit, reciprocating with lowered defenses and higher trust. As people get used to learning together, they become more open still, creating the soil for healthier creative culture.
